The world of Fitbit has changed the way many exercise. But do these step counters have a role to play when it comes to sustained weight loss. The answer is yes. Research shows that having a goal step range and step counting workings if done consistently. So invest in a simple step counting watch and set a daily goal. This works both in the house while doing chores or getting on with exercising and walking. You will be motivated to reach that daily goal.
2. Be consistent; it is rewarding:
When starting exercise, the first fuel burnt is carbohydrates. This remains the main energy use in the beginning as most people plan to exercise 30 minutes to an hour. But as you remain consistent, a surprising change happen to your metabolism. The body starts using a mix of carbohydrates and fats and hence fat burning commences. This mix is key to improving metabolism and burning fats. So be consistent and exercise everyday to get in the zone.
3. Sitting too long
Studies show that obese individuals sit for longer durations than their lean counterparts. Make it a habit to get up and walk around the office or hallway every chance you get. This will give you the added edge to weight loss. At home, don't sit for prolonged periods watching television or computer. Everyone needs a break and use it by doing chores or taking stairs. Studies show that when people exercised more and at higher intensities, they burned more calories than they consumed. So in other words, the body shifts its metabolic rate and hence despite you may be taking in same amount of daily calories, the body is burning more.
